What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Buyer's Premium

All bids are subject to a Buyer's Premium which is in addition to the placed successful bid. The following rate of Buyer's Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each Lot that you purchase:

A Second War Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Officer's Service Cap

A Second War Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Officer's Service Cap - This fine quality peaked cap is fabricated from a grayish-blue wool-cotton blend, featuring the classic high peak. It has two black eyelets on the underside of the cap on both sides for ventilation, along with a 42 mm wide black band around its circumference, which supports the RCAF insignia at the front. The insignia is composed of a gilt metal eagle, the open-ended wreath and King's crown in silver and gold-coloured bullion wire, maroon felt accent in the crown, along with touches of red, green and blue embroidery in the crown's base, on a padded black wool base, the insignia measuring 61 mm x 67 mm. The stiff visor is also in a grayish-blue wool-cotton blend, matching the rest of the cap and has a black patent leather strap with dual adjustable sliders that runs across the front between the black fabric posts on either side. The underside of the cap is also in a grayish-blue wool-cotton blend. The 52 mm wide dark tan sweatband is leather, stamped in gold ink with the "BATES Hatter, 21 Jermyn Street, St. JAMES'S, LONDON." label on the left side and "The "Bates" Service Cap FINEST QUALITY" on the right side, with the two ends sewn together with a white ribbon, in a bow-tie fashion at the rear. The dome itself has a brown celluloid liner, with the "BATES Hatter, 21 Jermyn Street, St. JAMES'S, LONDON. LIGHT WEIGHT" label affixed to the dome and inscribed "LIGHT WEIGHT" below, visible through the liner. Overall, the cap measures 210 mm x 240 mm x 115 mm in height. It exhibits collapsing of the rear wall inwards from storage, one small mothing hole along the top edge on the right side, light soiling on the sweatband, along with separation in the stitching where the sweatband butts the body of the cap between the Bates label and the visor on the left side, very clean. Extremely fine.
