What's a max bid?

Governor General's Foot Guards Trophy 1897

Governor General's Foot Guards Trophy 1897 - Quadruple silver plated, engraved "The Governor General's Foot Guards REGIMENTAL RIFLE MATCHES - 1897 - PRESENTED BY Major Jarvis - WON BY - Captain H.H. Gray" on the front of the cup, unique raised, indenting lip above a repeating ornate pattern, two rings on the pedestal, floral motif on the base, production seal on the inside at the base maker marked "SIMPSON, HALL, MILLER & CO" and marked "QUADRUPLE PLATE", mouth of cup measures 84 mm wide, base measures 90 mm wide, stands 218 mm high, tarnishing on the lip, free of dents, extremely fine. Footnote: "H.H. Gray" is possibly Henry Hamilton Gray, who was a First Lieutenant with Steele's Scouts during the North West Rebellion of 1885. Silverplate is made by electroplating fine silver onto a base metal alloy, usually nickel or Britannia metal, or sometimes brass or copper, in this case, four times.
