The ERII Toronto Scottish Regiment Drum Major's Sash

The ERII Toronto Scottish Regiment Drum Major's Sash - This sash is designed to place over the left shoulder, with the insignias appearing on the Drum Major's chest and the remainder of the sash on the back. It is fabricated from a navy blue felt with a thick black leather backer, the backer resting against the body of the wearer. The outward appearing navy blue felt upper is trimmed with a 22 mm wide band on both edges, consisting of two rows of fine silver bullion wire piping flanking a central row in orange embroidered piping. The front is adorned with the Tudor Crown above the cypher of Queen Elizabeth II, the crown in silver bullion wire with maroon felt in the crown and touches of red, green and blue threading in the crown's base, while the cypher is in silver bullion wire. Below the cypher is a two-level ribbon banner inscribed "THE TORONTO SCOTTISH REGIMENT", the lettering in silver bullion on a maroon felt background. Immediately below is the Regiment's insignia, the majority of the insignia in silver bullion wire with two-tone red embroidery forming the maple leaf, the thistles of the wreath accented with green and violet embroidery, with raised ribbon banners in maroon felt with silver bullion lettering inscribed "TORONTO" above and "SCOTTISH" below, the insignia resting upon a blue felt backer, trimmed in twisted silver bullion wire and black felt, the insignia measuring 152 mm x 175 mm. There are two 11.5 mm x 202 mm ebony and sterling silver drum sticks flanking two stacked open-ended wreaths, the wreaths in silver bullion accented with thistles in green and violet embroidery, each with ten ribbon banners listing the Battle Honours of the Regiment. The upper wreath is dedicated to the First World War, with raised ribbon banners in maroon felt with silver bullion lettering, listing the battles: "SOMME, VIMY RIDGE, ARRAS, HILL 70, PASSCHENDAELE, SCARPE, AMIENS, HINDENBURG LINE, CAMBRAI, VALENCIENNES". The lower wreath is dedicated to the Second World War, with raised ribbon banners in maroon felt with silver bullion lettering, listing the battles: "DIEPPE, THE SCHELDT, BOURGUEBUS RIDGE, WOESDRECHT, ST. ANDRE-SUR-ORNE, THE RHINELAND, FALAISE, THE REICHSWALD, ANTWERP TURNHOUT CANAL, THE HOCHWALD". The crown and the twenty-four ribbon banners, along with the base of the insignia are padded and raised, giving them a three-dimensional look. The bottom left corner and the bottom of the sash is finished in twisted silver wire fringe. On the underside of the sash at the top is a slotted leather tab, used to secure the sash to the wearer's shoulder. The sash measures 167 mm x 850 mm overall, with light contact marks on the ebony bodies of the drum sticks. It continues to exhibit smooth quality in the felt and is without interruptions in the fabrics and the bullion, highlighting quality workmanship, maintaining its traditional look, extremely fine.
