Footnote: Alvin E. Luck was awarded the Royal Canadian Humane Association life saving medal, in recognition of the his services in rescuing Miss Mary J. Ryan from drowning, at Big Bay Point on Lake Simcoe near Barrie, Ontario in July 1920. The presentation of the medal was made by His Worship Mayor John Little of Barrie, as part of the Prince of Wales School Concert held at the Grand Opera House in Barrie, on Friday, March 11, 1921, the acknowledgement of the ceremony documented in The Northern Advance of Thursday, March 21, 1921.
