A Second War Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Rolex Watch Attributed to Airman M. Pendik
The casing on this wrist watch is bronze gilt, with a stainless steel back, weighing 27.8 grams, functioning, the face of the watch maker marked "OYSTER RECORDA", with gold-coloured hour and minute hands, the second hand in red, large gold-coloured numbers with black drop shadows, each minute position marked with black ruled boxes, with the five minute intervals identified by numbers, glass crystal, with winding stem on the right side marked with the Rolex crown insignia, and loops top and bottom for the wristband. Reverse cover is stamped "132795" and "3478" and when opened, reveals "91425L" marked in black ink and "OYSTER WATCH Ld / GENEVA SWISS", along with the British and American patent numbers stamped on the underside of the cover, inscribed "SWISS MADE" and "15 RUBIES" along with "A" over "F" and "R" over "S" around the inner timer workings of the watch. Measuring 28.8 mm in diameter, 31.7 mm x 34 mm x 12.5 mm in depth including the stem and wristband loops, contact marks on the reverse from active use, spotting on the face, contact-free crystal, better than very fine. Accompanied by his RCAF Identification Tags (bakelite, one round (measuring 35 mm) and one one octagonal (33.5 mm x 38.8 mm), each stamped "CAN R4212A AIRMAN M PENDIK UC RCAF", tied in place to a full-length neck cord).
