An 1690 King Louis XIV Quebec Liberated Medal - An early re-strike of this medal, in bronze, engraver marked "I. MAVGER. F.", obverse illustrating the right-facing bust of King Louis XIV, surrounded by the inscription "LUDOVICUS MAGNUS REX CHRISTIANISSIMUS", reverse illustrating a robed female figure seated upon a rock, emblematic of France, her left arm resting against an oval shield displaying three fleur de lys, a sea god to the left and a beaver at her feet, backed by flags and trees, surrounded by the inscription "FRANCIA IN NOVO ORBE VICTRIX." and inscribed "KEBECA LIBERATA M.DC.XC" below, 41 mm, extremely fine.
