Model 1902 Wolseley Pattern Helmet to the 38th Dufferin Rifles of Canada

Made by Scully, this Officer's helmet is untouched, with all components remaining. With green and red silk, the regimental colours of the 38th Dufferin Rifles, firmly held in place by two sets of catches, this helmet displays a smaller, 33.5mm, 38th badge that has remained in place since likely since the helmets last use. Showing wear around its suede brim, there is still dried soil or mud from its original use. Its leather chin strap remains supple and its well marked W.S.Scully Montreal. The interior is clearly marked 38th. Regt. as well as 4/14, and a marker mark by Scully, however the year is worn. Along with these marks are two names, Col Palmer as well as M. Bancroft 307. It also exhibits a strong Canadian broad arrow mark in blue. Accompanying the helmet is also its original storage bag, with corresponding marks and a strong drawstring. This rare and early Canadian helmet stands in better than very fine condition, while the bag is better than extremely fine.
