45th Infantry Battalion "Manitoba Regiment" Cap Badge (pickled copper, unmarked, 37 mm x 43 mm, intact lugs); 159th Infantry Battalion "1st Algonquin" Cap Badge (browning copper, maker marked "ELLIS BROS" on the reverse, 42.2 mm x 50 mm, intact lugs and pin); and 244th Infantry Battalion "KItchener's Own" Cap Badge (pickled brass, unmarked, 41.5 mm x 44.5 mm, intact lugs and pin). Near extremely fine. Footnote: The 45th Infantry Battalion "Manitoba Regiment" was raised in Manitoba with mobilization headquarters at Brandon under the authority of G.O. 86, July 1, 1915. The Battalion sailed March 13, 1916 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel F.J. Clarke with a strength of 38 officers and 720 other ranks, arriving in England on March 25th. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 11th Reserve Battalion. The 159th Infantry Battalion "1st Algonquin" was raised in the Nipissing and Sudbury areas of Ontario with mobilization headquarters at Haileybury under the authority of G.O. 151, December 22, 1915. The Battalion sailed November 1, 1916 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel E.F. Armstrong with a strength of 32 officers and 972 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 8th Reserve Battalion. The 244th Infantry Battalion "Kitchener's Own" was raised in Quebec with mobilization headquarters at Montreal under the authority of G.O. 69, July 15, 1916. The Battalion sailed March 28, 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel E.M. McRobie with a strength of 27 officers and 604 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 23rd Reserve Battalion. All three battalions were disbanded on September 15, 1920.
