WWI 1st Depot Battalion; Nova Scotia Regiment Collar Pair - Brass, voided, maker marked "W. SCULLY MANFR MONTL" (W. Scully Manufacturers Montreal) on their reverses, 22.5 mm x 32.3 mm each, intact lugs, surface oxidation evident, better than very fine.Footnote: Canadian Depot Battalions were formed in August 1917 and handled the training of the final allotments of recruits and draftees to various battalions in England and fighting battalions in France. After the signing of the armistice, they were used as demobilization centres for returning Canadian corps and were disbanded on November 15, 1920. Most Depot Battalions used the regiment badges of the military district in which they were posted, with the shoulder tabs being the only identifying insignia. The 1st Depot Battalion, Nova Scotia Regiment was based at Military District No. 6 headquarters in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
