WWI 216th Infantry Battalion "Toronto Bantams" Cap Badge, CEF - Blackened copper, unmarked but known to have been manufactured by Ellis, very crisp detail, high relief, 38.5 mm x 47.2 mm, intact lugs, near mint. Footnote: The Battalion was raised in Toronto, Ontario under the authority of G.O. 69, July 15, 1916. The Battalion sailed April 18, 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel F.L. Burton with a strength of 30 officers and 783 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 3rd Reserve Battalion. It was disbanded September 15, 1920.
