WWI 60th Infantry Battalion "Victoria Rifles of Canada" Gold Badge - Two-piece construction, in GOLD with single pearls on either side of the insignia, marked "14K" and maker marked "BIRKS" on the reverse, weighing 4.1 grams, very crisp detail, insignia measures 14.5 mm x 15.7 mm on a 51.4 mm dual-slotted bar with pinback, near mint. Footnote: The Battalion was raised and mobilized in Montreal, Quebec under the authority of G.O. 103A, August 15, 1915. The Battalion sailed November 6, 1915 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel F.A. Gascoigne, with a strength of 40 officers and 1,024 other ranks. The Battalion served in France and Belgium with the 9th Infantry brigade, 3rd Canadian Division. It was disbanded September 15, 1920.
