An official issue bronze victory medal, obverse engraved by maker “C. Charles”, rim marked with BRONZE and a Chobillon maker mark, measures 35.75mm, weighs 21.5 grams, worn on a replacement ribbon, lovely patina, minor wear, possibly cleaned, in better than very fine condition.
Footnote: Cuba declared war on Germany one day after the United States in 1917. A draft was enacted, and 25,000 soldiers were sent overseas to France. Chobillon was the official manufacturer of Cuban Victory medals in France and was known to have had two dies.
