Mexico. A Civil Defence Medal for Patriotic Enthusiasm, c.1943
Instituted 1943. Two-piece construction, a circular bronze gilt medal with red, orange, green brown, light blue and dark blue enamels, the obverse bears a soldier wearing a backpack holding a gun, encompassed by a dark blue enamel border inscribed in gilt “MEXICO CONFIA EN TUS HIJOS” (MEXICO TRUST YOUR CHILDREN), with a laurel wreath border tied with a ribbon at the bottom, the reverse bears the inscription “MAYO 28 DE 1942 COMITE CENTRAL DE LA DEFENSA CIVIL DEF D.F. AL ENTUSIASMO PATRIOTICO SEPTIEMBRE 15 DE 1943” (MAY 28 1942 CENTRAL COMMITTEE OF CIVIL DEFENSE OF D.F. FOR PATRIOTIC ENTHUSIASM SEPTEMBER 15 1943), measuring 43.3 mm (w) x 47 mm (h), on an orange and white striped ribbon, very fine.
