Mexico, United Mexican States. Two Crosses of Revolutionary Merit
(La Cruz de Mérito Revolucionario). Instituted in 1939. Type II (1913-1914). Both crosses with a three-piece construction, in bronze gilt with red and blue enamels; the first cross measuring 49 mm (w) x 49 mm (h), original ribbon suspended from a hanger with pinback, exhibiting a hole in the red enamels on the obverse centrepiece, the right ball finial bent back on the arm at 7 o'clock; the second cross measuring 48.5 mm (w) x 48.5 mm (h), suspended from a hanger with pinback, the hanger bearing blue enamels, exhibiting chipping and loss in the blue enamels on the arm at 1 o'clock and in the red enamels on the obverse centrepiece; both crosses with scattered gilt wear. Very fine and fine, respectively.
Footnote: The Type II version of the Cross for Revolutionary Merit was instituted on October 5, 1939 and was awarded for fighting against government troops of General Victoriano Huerta between February and August 1913.
