A 1942 Second War Garrison Side Cap
United States; Type II; Fabricated from khaki cotton, designed with a fold down panel that extends around the perimeter of the cap, the ends of which overlap on the front, the entire upper edge of which is trimmed in light blue embroidered cord, with two rising peaks forming a valley, inside is stamped in black ink "M 9703" and size stamped "7 1/4" on the sweatband on the right side, label stitched in place to the seam on the same side above the size stamping, the label inscribed "Size 7 1/4 / Union Cap Company / Cont. W-669-QM-16623 / DATED MAR. 14 1942 / SPEC. No. 3-114A Type II / DATED FEB. 19, 1941 / STOCK No. 73-C-18014 / Phila. Q.M. Depot / Inspector" (Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot), 115 mm x 280 mm, well-stitched and very clean, near mint.
