Two-piece construction, bronze gilt and enamels, engraved "JOHN W THERRELL" on the reverse, 35.2 mm x 43.5 mm, original ribbon with brooch pinback, intact enamels, scratch on the reverse, contact marks and scattered gilt wear, near very fine.

Footnote: Colonel John Wade Therrell was born on September 10, 1920. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. During the latter conflict, he was wounded in action while serving with the United States Army Signal Corps, receiving the Purple Heart. Therrell died on March 23, 2002, at the age of 81 and was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Saraland, Alabama. Therrell was made Lt.Col. on July 13 1963.
