United States; Two-piece construction, silver star placed upon a bronze gilt star-shaped base, engraved "THOMAS F. MATTO" on the reverse, 34.5 mm x 35.7 mm, original ribbon with brooch pinback, near extremely fine. Accompanied by two 10 mm x 36 mm ribbon bars, one with a pinback, and its 3.5 mm x 17 mm enamelled ribbon bar with button hole attachment, in their hardshelled case of issue, marked "SILVER STAR MEDAL" on the lid, exhibiting light scuffing on the lid, case near extremely fine.
