Bronze, engraver marked "H. OTTO F." on the obverse, engraved to "HARRY PARSONS" on the reverse, 38.2 mm, original ribbon with hanger marked "1898 1899", pin has detached from the hanger, very light contact, extremely fine.
Footnote: The medal and a certificate were awarded to very officer and enlisted man that served during the Spanish-American War of Philippine Insurrection in a United States Volunteer organization credited to Colorado. This would have included members of the First Infantry who served in the Philippines and the First Battery of Field Artillery that served in the United States. It would have excluded service in the regular army or navy. The medals were manufactured by Joslin and Park of Denver. An estimated 1,200 men in this unit were eligible for the medal. All medals were apparently issued with the recipient's name engraved on the reverse and came in a presentation case containing the name of the manufacturer on the inside cover.
