What's a max bid?

All bids are subject to a Buyer's Premium which is in addition to the placed successful bid. The following rate of Buyer's Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each Lot that you purchase:

A United States Civil War Era New York State 2nd Excelsior Brigade Shako Cap Badge

This shako badge is crafted out of thin stamped brass and was used to adorn the Shako caps worn by the brigade’s infantry regiments. The Excelsior badges depict an American Bald Eagle clutching the Excelsior banner with “2” in the center, with both attachment loops still intact on the reverse. It measures 94 mm x 80 mm, and is in mint condition, showing only some light contact marks and mild patina.

Footnote: The Excelsior Brigade was established by Daniel Sickles and served in several important battles in the Eastern Theatre, including the Battle of Gettysburg and the Battle of Chancellorsville.
