What's a max bid?

An Maryland Colonial Dames of America Membership Badge in Gold - Gold with white and light blue enamels, weighing 16 grams inclusive of its ribbon and pinback hanger, maker marked "BAILEY BANKS & BIDDLE PHILA." (Philadelphia) and marked "PAT." (patent) on the reverse of the eagle, obverse illustrating a colonial woman in the centre, surrounded by the inscription "NATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE COLONIAL DAMES OF AMERICA", with thirteen rays emanating from behind, each with a blue star at the end, representative of the original thirteen states, surmounted by an eagle, reverse engraved in running script to "Agnes Boone No 417. 1900." in the centre, surrounded by the inscription "FILLAE CONSERVANT VIRTUTES MAJORUM", 30.5 mm x 37.3 mm, original ribbon with pinback hanger inscribed "MARYLAND", intact enamels, better than extremely fine.   Footnote: The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America was founded in 1891, as an organization composed of women who are descended from an ancestor "who came to reside in an American Colony before 1750, and whose services were rendered during the Colonial Period."
