A Society of Descendants of Knights of the Most Noble Order of the Garter Membership Badge, gold filled and oval-shaped, the obverse presenting the society's insignia, the Garter with the emblem "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" surrounding a representation of St. George slaying the dragon, with a Tudor Rose attached to the suspension ring, reverse plain with unknown 'S' hallmark, measuring 14mm (w) x 24mm (l), suspended on the society's ribbon missing pin, very fine condition.
Footnote: The Society of Descendants of Knights of the Most Noble Order of the Garter was established in 1929. It's membership is eligible to those with a qualified lineal descendant from one or more of the Knights of the Garter. The purpose of the society include: perpetuating the memory of Edward III King of England, to promote good fellowship among the members, to collect funds for the preservation of family descents, to inspire others with the noble example set by their patron, and to assist the restoration of st. George's Chapel the Shrine of the Order.
