Badges represent the numbered Air Forces, Airborne, Air Ship Companies, Infantry Divisions, Military Railways, Transportation, among others. Fourteen badges are sterling silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, marked "STERLING" on their reverses, in various sizes, with vertical pinbacks, the 12th Air Force badge with repair evident in the blue enamels. Thirty-four badges are fabricated from bronze, twenty-five are gilt, six are silvered, in various colors of enamels, with various maker marks, in various sizes, five with a single screwback, sixteen with vertical pinbacks, two with horizontal pinbacks, six with dual push pins, two missing their pinbacks. The forty-sixth badge is a Nathan Nittauer Hospital Training School Badge in 10K Gold with blue enamels, maker marked with the Dieges & Clust eagle insignia, marked "10 KT." and engraved "E.C. DUNN '37" on the reverse, measuring 20.8 mm in diameter, horizontal pinback, ranges from fair to very fine.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
