An American Legion of Merit to Turkish General Mehmet Ali Keskiner
United States, Legion of Merit, Commnader’s neck Decoration, in gilt and enamels, reverse officially engraved: Ali Keskiner (in slightly worn condition, no damages to enamels); Italy, Third Army Cross, in silver and enamels, reverse engraved: Al Gen. Di C.A. Ali Keskiner & Maggio 1963; unknown Arabic/Turkish (?) badge in bronze and enamels, 39mm(w) x 48mm(h), in very fine condition. Footnote: Mehmet Ali Sharp (b. 1906 , Istanbul , Turkey) - (d. 16 February 1989, Istanbul , Turkey ), was a Turkish high Ranking Officer; he participated in the War of Independence in mid 1920’s, joined the Army, and in 1925 become a Leutnant. He attended various military colleges and slowly advanced through the Ranks during 1930’s, serving at various military headquarters. He rose to a rank of a General in early 1960’s; he served as Army Deputy Commander of the Military Supreme Court, Ankara Martial Law Command, and was appointed a member Supreme Military Council. He retired in 1965, and died in Istanbul on 16 February 1989.
