A lot of six items from the estate of John Christian Morrow, a participant in sailing events at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. It includes:
1. Morrow’s passport, constructed of a card stock binding with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior retaining all 32 paginated interior pages featuring handwritten entries with Morrow’s particulars alongside a certified black-and-white portrait, featuring stamped visas for the United Kingdom, Hungary, Germany, and France for the year 1936, with many internal travel stamps issued for domestic movement within Germany, measuring 95 mm (w) x 155 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
2. A participants necktie, constructed of blue rayon and staple with a machine-embroidered Team USA badge, measuring 61 cm in total length, in near extremely fine condition.
3. A large Team USA badge, constructed of multi-coloured machine embroidery, unmarked, measuring 48 mm (w) x 55 mm (h), with several small patches of mothing evident, in very fine condition.
4. A 1936 Berlin Olympics commemorative table medal, constructed of patinated bronze, the obverse bearing raised figures flanked by an inscription of “XI. OLYMPIADE BERLIN 1936” (“11TH OLYMPIAD BERLIN 1936”), the reverse bearing a raised bell overlaid by a German national eagle clutching Olympic rings, above an inscription of “WIR RUFEN DIE JUGEND DER WELT” (“WE CALL THE YOUTH OF THE WORLD”), set within cascading rings, designer marked “OTTO PLACZEK”, measuring 70 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
5. A 1936 Berlin Olympics participant’s badge issued for sailing events, constructed of bronze with machine-embroidery, horizontal pinback, stamped with an issue number of “7311”, maker marked “L. CHR. LAUER, NÜRNBERG-BERLIN”, measuring 42 mm (w) x 46 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
6. An NSDAP patriotic pendant, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension,unmarked, measuring 16 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
