In solid 10K Gold, with an oval ruby-coloured glass stone placed in the center, marked "10K" (Gold) and maker marked "HARCOURT LOUISVILLE" on the inside of the ring, inscribed "NAVAL" above and "AVIATOR" below the stone, with three stars between the inscriptions on either side, the right shoulder of the ring illustrating the United States Navy insignia, consisting of an eagle standing upon a shield bearing stars and stripes, the shield backed by crossed anchors, with a six-handled ship's wheel and a fleur-de-lis below, the left shoulder of the ring illustrating the United States Naval Aviator insignia flanked by "19" and "40" (date 1940), with a propeller below, the bottom blade of the propeller inscribed "CLASS", the propeller flanked by the letters "PNAS" (Pensacola Naval Air Station), with a fleur-de-lis below, the Naval Aviation face plate measuring 10.5 mm (w) x 13.2 mm (h), the ring measuring 20.7 mm in diameter, exhibiting surface wear on the lower portions of the shoulders from active use, the detail remaining crisp in the various insignia and text.
