Includes two pieces: tunic and breeches. The tunic is fabricated from army green wool, button down epaulette straps on both shoulders, each of which is secured in place by a small gilt-finished brass button bearing the United States coat-of-arms at the neck end, with a Brigadier General rank star insignia pinned in place on both straps. There is a 95 mm (w) x 115 mm (h) 2nd Infantry Division patch in red, white, blue and black sewn in place on the right shoulder, while the left shoulder has a 95 mm (w) x 135 mm (h) 1st Cavalry Division patch in black, yellow and army green embroidery sewn in place. The front has four pockets, one on each breast which have decorative straps giving them a pleated-look, the other two at the waist are without pleats and are larger and deeper than the breast pockets. All four pockets have fold over button down flaps with reinforced button holes and small gilt-finished brass buttons bearing the United States coat-of-arms, the two smaller breast pockets with dual snaps added, the two larger waist pockets with the buttons sewn in place to the flaps and are cotton lined. The smaller gilt brass buttons are maker marked "WATERBURY BUTTON CO." on their reverses, while the large gilt brass buttons are marked "SUPERIOR QUALITY" on their reverses. Sewn in place above the left breast pocket are four independent levels of ribbon bars: level one - Army Distinguished Service Medal and Silver Star; level two - Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal and American Defense Service Medal; level three - American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars and World War II Victory Medal; level four - Army of Occupation Medal, Kingdom of Belgium: Order of Leopold II and Kingdom of the Netherlands: Order of Orange-Nassau. Each of the collars are adorned with a U.S. Collar Badge, each of which are secured in place by dual push pins. The front is completed by a vertical row of three large gilt-finished brass buttons bearing the United States coat-of-arms, plus a large chocolate brown button in the fourth position on the right side of the opening, facing an equal number of reinforced button holes on the left side. There is a 45 mm wide belt in army green wool with brass buckle at the waist, the belt supported via two large belt loops placed on either side at the rear. The cuff on each sleeve has a 15 mm wide olive green embroidered braid, the tunic single-vented at the rear. The interior is lined in moss green rayon, including the sleeves, with top-entry pockets placed on the breast on either side.
The right breast pocket has an embroidered tailor's label inscribed "Coronet Uniforms" surmounted by a large crown, the same pocket with a label sewn in place just inside it inscribed "CORONET UNIFORM CO., INC. - NEW YORK, N.Y. / Size 39 LONG" and "CADET". In addition, there is an embroidered label sewn in place in the collar inscribed "Lined with EARL-GLO rayon", the tunic measuring 480 mm across the shoulders x 775 mm in length. The accompanying breeches are fabricated from a thick peanut brown wool, designed with a button down fly, with four brown plastic buttons on the right side facing an equal number of reinforced button holes on the left side that are discreetly hidden under a flap, with an additional brown plastic button above on the right side at the waist, facing a reinforced button on the left side. It has four pockets, with side-entry pockets on both sides at the front, along with two on the rear seat with flaps, each of the rear pockets with a light brown plastic button and reinforced button hole on the flap, all four pockets lined in an off-white cotton. The exterior has seven wide belt loops on the waistband. Each leg has a multi-stitched reinforcing patch stitched in place on the inner leg. The cuffs are of the lace-up design, with the lace fed through seven pairs of brown-finished metal eyelet reinforced button holes, with four of the twenty-eight eyelets having been lost to time. The cuffs are finished with a wide light brown cotton fold over flap at the opening incorporating three reinforced button holes, the right cuff with three light brown buttons on the opposite side of the opening, the left side with two light brown buttons on the opposite side of the opening, as the third button has been lost to time, the lacing and the buttons ensuring a secure fit. Inside, there is a 58 mm wide waistband in off-white rayon, incorporating six plastic buttons spaced at regular intervals, with an embroidered label inscribed "The Lilley-Ames / Columbus Ohio / Quality Uniforms" and name stamped in black ink "DIGMAN", flanking the far right button. The breeches measure 740 mm at the waist x 1,050 mm in length, exhibiting repair in the fabric near the fly on the front and on the seat near the seam, along with light age soiling on the waistband. Both pieces are free of mothing, displaying a wonderful texture in the wool, along with quality workmanship. Extremely fine and better than very fine, respectively.
