United States. An Army Officer's Tropical/Summer Service Visor Cap, c.1945 
                Fabricated from a khaki cotton on the exterior, featuring the classic high peak and is designed without a frame support in the crown, allowing for the intentional drooping sides. It has a 37 mm wide band in khaki wool displaying a repeating wavy slanted lines pattern around its circumference. There is a 56.5 mm (w) x 62.3 mm (h) United States Army officer's cap badge in bronze gilt on the front, the cap badge bearing the Army Great Seal eagle insignia and is affixed to the cap via a screwback that is fed through a support strap on the inside of the cap. The stiff visor is in leather with a smooth pecan brown gloss finish, a strap with dual adjustable sliders, all of which are also in leather with a smooth pecan brown gloss finish, runs across the front between the brass buttons on either side, each of the buttons bearing the Army Great Seal eagle insignia. The underside of the visor is in a raw leather, the sidewalls with a stiff framework wrapped in champagne-colored rayon. It incorporates a 45 mm wide sweatband in leather, the upper with a dimpled tawny brown finish, the ends of which are held together via a maroon ribbon and staple at the rear. It is perforated in multiple angled rows for ventilation around the entire sweatband, the rows consisting of five holes each. The dome has a manufacturer's label in black illustrating a heraldic shield and inscribed "J. Paul Andréas / Paris London New York", in addition to being marked "RIVIERA SOUVENIRS / Tacoma, Wash." below the manufacturer's name, the dome incorporating a khaki-tinted moisture shield and covering the manufacturer's mark, with a "7 1/2" size label affixed at its rear. The cap measures 260 mm in width x 280 mm in depth x 130 mm in height, exhibiting light soiling towards the front and rear of the cap on the top, along with the underside of the visor, the upper of the visor with a scratch on the right side. Better than very fine.
