Silver Star (two-piece construction, silver star plac ed upon a bronze gilt star-shaped base, engraved "LEWIS D. HUDSON" on the reverse, measuring 36.3 mm (w) x 35 mm (h), original ribbon with brooch pinback); Bronze Star Medal (in bronze, engraved "LEWIS D. HUDSON" on the reverse, measuring 36.8 mm (w) x 35.3 mm (h), oak leaf cluster on its original ribbon with brooch pinback); and Purple Heart (two-piece construction, in bronze gilt with red, white, purple and green enamels, engraved "LEWIS D. HUDSON" on the reverse, measuring 34.8 mm (w) x 43.3 mm (h), original ribbon with brooch pinback, intact enamels). Extremely fine. Accompanied by a 9th Infantry Division Sleeve Patch (in red, white, blue and olive green embroidery, measuring 63 mm in diameter).

Hudson, 9th Infantry Division, United States Army was awarded the Silver Star from Headquarters, 9th Infantry Division, by General Orders No. 50 (1945), "for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy" while serving with the 9th Infantry Division during the Second World War.
