In green-brown wool, this 39R sized tunic attributed to the 82nd Airborne Division. The shoulders are adorned with shoulder straps secured in place a brass button illustrating the United States Coat of Arms with the reverse marked “WATERBURY BUTTON CO.” The collar presents a brass disk on each side, the left presenting a “U.S” disk with a single pinch pin clasp on the reverse and the right, a USAAF propeller collar disk with two pinch pin clasps on the reverse. The front presents four total pockets, one on each breast and a larger pocket at the waist of each side, a flap closes each pocket with a reinforced button hole and brass button marked “SCOVILL MF’G CO WATERBURY” on the reverse, the pocks are lined with a moss green rayon-cotton blend. The left side of the breast presents insignia including a black and silver bullion paratrooper jump wings patch stitched directly to tunic, measures 52mm (w) x 38.5mm (h), light wear, below sits a ribbon bar consisting of a Good Conduct, American Campaign, and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign with four bronze stars and a silver arrowhead device, measures 105mm (w) x 9mm (h), all ribbons showing light wear, reverse presents two pinch pin clasps,  on the top flap of the right breast pocket sits a silver combat medical badge, measures 38.5mm (w) x 26mm (h), dark patina, single horizontal pin on reverse, all in very fine condition. The right side of the breast is enriched with an Honorable Discharge Emblem lozenge in yellow embroidery on a diamond-shaped olive green rayon base, along with a Army Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon below it, incorporating a blue ribbon framed within a rectangular brass frame with an oak leaf cluster device in the center, measures 36.5mm (w) x 15.7mm (h), both items just above the right breast pocket.

 

The front has a vertical row of four large brass buttons, the second button from the top maker marked "WATERBURY BUTTON CO. CONN.” on the reverse, facing an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left side. The left shoulder is emblazoned with an 82nd Division shoulder tab and AA (All-American) unit patch in red, white and blue embroidery, with a rank insignia below denoting a private first class in brown and black embroidery, handstitched to the sleeve, near the end of the sleeve are three overseas stripes featuring yellow embroidery on a green patch, all in extremely fine condition. The right shoulder presents the rank insignia denoting a private first class in brown and black embroidery, handstitched to the sleeve, all very fine condition. The rear of the tunic is pleated on either side and is single vented. The interior is lined in a brownish-green rayon along the front pleats, within the arms, and along the collar which is stamped 39R indicating the size. The tunic measures 485mm across the shoulders and 790mm in length. One very small moth hold on the reverse left side near the waist band, otherwise in extremely fine condition.

Accompanied by a matching side cap, of brown wool with maroon and white Medical piping, the obverse patch presents a parachute in bullion on a red velvet circular background with a thick bullion border. The interior presents a dark green silk lining with a leather strap to secure the fit. The cap measures 285mm in length. Light wear is evident to the interior and the front of the cord, otherwise in extremely fine condition.
