(Friedrich-August-Kreuz I. Klasse). Instituted 24 September 1914 by Grand Duke Frederick Augustus II. (Issued 1914-1918). Constructed of blackened magnetic metal, presenting as a blackened Cross Pattée, joined through the arms by a laurel wreath, with central raised initials of Frederick Augustus II, topped by Oldenburg Crown, with bottom date of “1914”, unmarked, reverse with screw back apparatus featuring plate and nut, measuring 44.70 mm (w) x 44.41 mm (h), weighing 40.1 grams, in better than very fine condition.
