Prussia. An Order of the Red Eagle, Fourth Class, with Anniversary Number “50”, by J. Wagner & Sohn
1879-1918 Issue. (Preußische Rote Adlerorden IV. Klasse mit Jubiläumszahl “50”). A silver cross pattee with stippled arms; the obverse with a center white enameled medallion depicting a Brandenburg crowned eagle cast in the centre of the cross; the reverse with the crowned cipher of King Friedrich Wilhelm III; suspended from a loop for suspension - featuring the “50” Jubilee clasp attached to the loop; with a period original ribbon; maker marked “W” for “Johann Wagner & Sohn, Berlin” on the bottom of the six o’clock arm; measuring 38.66 mm (w) x 38.66 mm (h); weighing 17.5 grams; the red paint on the enamels having flaked off slightly through age - the medallion slightly loose; in overall near very fine condition.
