Prussia, Kingdom. A Parade-Mounted Life Saving Medal
(Verdienst-Ehrenzeichen für Rettung aus Gefahr). Instituted 1 February 1833 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1907-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original parade-mounted ribbon with a grey wool reverse liner and horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a raised and leftward-facing profile of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a wreathed inscription of “FÜR RETTUNG AUS GEFAHR” (“FOR RESCUE FROM DANGER”), unmarked, measuring 24.75 mm in diameter, weighing 18.3 grams (inclusive of ribbon and mount), in near extremely fine condition.
