Prussia, Kingdom. A Red Cross Medal, I Class with Case
(Rote Kreuz Medaille, I. Klasse mit Etui). Instituted 1 October 1898 by Kaiser Wilhelm II. (1898-1918 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, the obverse consisting of a convex red enameled Geneva Cross, with each arm completing in a detailed royal crown, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 45.20 mm (w) x 44.78 mm (h), weighing 10.7 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the interior with a white satin lid liner and slotted black velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 68 mm (w) x 65 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
