Prussia, State. An 1813 Iron Cross, II Class
(Eisernes Kreuz 1813 2. Klasse). A fine Prussian Napoleonic Iron Cross 1813, a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a “stepped” iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border, a scarce wide silver frame, the obverse with a raised oak-leaf branch consisting of three oak leaves, with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbers on the lower arm, a raised Prussian crown on the upper arm, with “FW” in equally raised lettering directly below, the reverse completely plain, measuring 43.90 mm (w) x 49.60 mm (h), weighing 24.8 grams, on ring for suspension from ribbon, and in very fine condition.
