Russia, Imperial. A Commemorative Medal for the Triple Alliance of 1813
Constructed of bronze, Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a raised and leftward-facing profile of Tsar Alexander I in medieval armour and wielding a spear with an ornately-decorated shield executed in high relief, circumscribed by a Russian Cyrillic inscription of “РОДОМЫСЛЪ ДЕВЯТАГОНАДЕСЯТЬ ВѢКА” (“RODOMYSL OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY”), the reverse bearing three raised classical warriors symbolizing Russia, Prussia, and Austria, circumscribed by a Cyrillic inscription of “TRIPLE ALLIANCE” and situated above a date of “1813” with an additional inscription indicating that the medal was issued in 1835, the obverse bearing a possible engraver’s mark that appears to read “РАКЛЕ”, measuring 65 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
