Russia, Imperial. A Saint George Cross, II Class, Émigré Issue c.1920
(Георгиевский крест, 2-й степени). Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse bearing a central raised depiction of Saint George slaying a dragon, the reverse bearing a central Russian Cyrillic monogram of “СГ” for Святой Георгий (Saint George), the six o’clock arm bearing a raised inscription of “СТЕП” (“CLASS”) without a specific number, unmarked, measuring 34.45 mm (w) x 39.52 mm (h), weighing 16.3 grams, with minor oxidation and loss of finish evident, in very fine condition.
