(Георгиевский крест, 3-й степени). Instituted February 1807 by Tsar Alexander I. (1807-1917 issue). Constructed of silver, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed arms, the obverse bearing a central raised depiction of St. George slaying a dragon, the reverse bearing a central raised disc with Cyrillic characters “СГ” (SG) as the saint’s monogram, the three and nine o’clock arms etched with a number of “219993”, the six o’clock arm bearing an inscription of “3 СТЕП” (3RD CLASS), the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop connecting to a suspension ring with a pentagonal backplate and period original ribbon, unmarked, measures 35.5mm (w) x 40.9mm (h), weighs 11.3 grams, light wear, lovely patina, in near extremely fine condition.
Footnote: This St. George Cross was awarded to 219993 Vlasov Timofey, a Jr. non-commissioned officer of the 23rd Siberian Regiment. It was awarded for outstanding feats of courage and selflessness against the enemy in battles.
