What's a max bid?

In Gold, a white enamel anchor cross with a ball finial at the end of each cross, with a castle in each quadrant, surmounted by a large crown, the obverse medallion presenting a delicately handpainted portrait surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed SAN MARINO PROTETTORE, the reverse medallion features a superimposed Gold shield on a white enamel field, surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed MERITO CIVILE E MILITARE, measures 56.60mm (w) x 84.68 mm (h – inclusive of cross adorned crown suspension), weighs 33.5 grams (excluding ribbon), worn on a replacement ribbon by an elongated loop with a pebbled row in the center, enamel chipped on 6 o’clock arm on reverse, several hairline cracks throughout arms of cross, medallion ever so slightly loose but beautifully painted, overall a scarce award in near very fine condition.

 

Footnote: The Order is conferred upon military personnel and civilians for outstanding civil or military service to the Republic, as well as meritorious service within scientific, political, humanitarian, and artistic endeavors.
