(Ehrenzeichen für Kunst und Wissenschaft) Instituted 1837. Type VI. 1911-1920 Issue. A circular medal constructed of silver, the obverse bears the right facing bust of Duke Charles Edward, circumscribed with “CARL EDVARD HERZOG SACHSEN COBURG GOTHA”, encompassed by a laurel leaf border, the reverse centre bears the inscription “FUR KUNST UND WISSENSCHAFT” (FOR ART AND SCIENCE) within an octagonal pearled border within an oak leaf border, measuring 32.59 mm, weighing 16.3 g, with a green and white striped ribbon, very fine.
