Saxe-Weimar, Duchy. An Order of the White Falcon, II Class Knight’s Cross with Swords, c.1914
(Hausorden vom Weißen Falken Ritterkreuz II. Klasse mit Schwertern). Instituted by Duke Ernest Augustus on 2 August 1732. (1902-1918 Issue). A silver Maltese Cross with green enameled arms, with red enameled parallelograms between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a large leftward-facing white enameled falcon superimposed in the centre, crossed swords meet at the centre behind the falcon, the reverse with a central gilt applique with bright blue enamels, inscribed with Order motto “VIGILANDO ASCENDIMUS” (“THROUGH VIGILANCE WE ASCEND”), with white enameled arms and green enameled parallelograms with white enameled tips, suspended from a swivel crown suspension, with a horizontally pierced ball and loop, suspended from its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 36.40 mm (w) x 58.16 mm (h) and weighing 20.8 grams, there is some minor flecking of the enamels and the cross previously adoring the crown suspension apparatus has broken off, in otherwise near extremely fine condition.
