Saxe-Weimar, Grand Duchy. A Silver Merit Medal, by Ferdinand Helfricht
(Silberne-Verdienstmedaille). Instituted 5 August 1895 by Grand Duke Carl Alexander. (1892-1902 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a central leftward-facing profile of Grand Duke Carl Alexander, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of “DEM VERDIENST” (“FOR MERIT”), within an oak leaf wreath, the obverse maker marked “HELFRICHT F.”, the edge with a silver content number of “990” and a crown and crescent moon indicating German manufacture, measuring 36.04 mm in diameter, weighing 22.4 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
