(Sachsen-Ernestinischer Hausorden, Bruststern zum Komturkreuz mit Eichenlaub). Instituted on March 25, 1833 by Duke Friedrich. (Issued 1833-1864). A Maltese cross with pebbled finials constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse depoicting a pebbled Gold field decorated by the Saxon crown in Gold and green enamels, surrounded by a broad ring of blue enamels inscribed “FIDELITER ET CONSTANTER” (Loyal and Steadfast), surrounded by a green enameled laurel wreath, the reverse with four rivets, a vertical banjo style pinback, and a functional hinge/catch assembly, measuring 62.57 mm (w) x 67.10 mm (h), weighing 26.3 grams, the central crown and enamel ring partially loose with the wreath previously re-attached to the cross, in overall good condition.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
