(Orden de Mayo Al Mérito Militar). Instituted in 1957. Three-piece construction, insignia in bronze gilt, mounted to a base in silvered bronze with white enamels, reverse with the Argentina coat-of-arms in silvered bronze with red, white and light blue enamels placed in the centre and surrounded by the inscription "REPUBLICA ARGENTINA / AL MERITO MILITAR", measuring 63.7 mm (w) x 69.3 mm (h), loop suspension, minor chipping and crazing evident in the white enamels on the coat-of-arms, otherwise the enamels are intact, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of May for Military Merit was instituted in 1957, as part of the Order of May. It is awarded to foreign civilians and military personnel for meritorious service to the Argentine army. The awarding of this order is governed by diplomatic protocol, in six grades: Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
