Struck by the US Mint, signed M, for Morgan (the designer of the USA Morgan silver dollar), 35.7mm, weighs 31.4 grams, pierced at the top; BENEDICTO QUINTINO DOS ANJOS, SEAMAN OF THE BRAZILIAN MARINE TOWBOAT TENENTE CLAUDIO, IN RECOGNITION OF HIS HEROIC SERVICES IN EFFECTING THE RESCUE AT SEA, ON SEPTEMBER 1 - 1921, OF THE MASTER AND CREW OF THE AMERICAN SCHOONER NORTHLAND officially engraved to a Brazilian recipient, extremely fine; of the 1122 gold medals awarded from 1880-1939, Brazil received only 22 such medals! Extremely RARE and very desirable medal.
