1934-1967 Issue: Silver with blue and white enamels, 25.5 mm, original ribbon with pinback, chipping evident in the blue enamels on both centrepiece rings and in the white enamels on the left arm on the reverse, fine. Footnote: The Order of Naval Merit was instituted by decree 24659 of July 11, 1934 by President Getúlio Vargas, to be awarded to members of the military navy "who have distinguished themselves in the exercise of their profession and, exceptionally, to corporations, military and civil institutions, and foreign nationals, their flags or banners, as well as civil and military, Brazilian or foreign, that have rendered outstanding services to the Navy".
