A 1945 Chilean Merchant Marine Fourth Class Medal & Document
A 1945 Merchant Marine Fourth Class Engineer Medal & Document - Medal: three-piece construction, obverse with a silver gilt and red enamelled insignia, the insignia with two ships in a shield, a pilot's wheel above and framed by two anchors, a silver gilt bar below the insignia engraved "NAUTILUS", on an ornate engraved silver shield base with the engraved interlocking initials "J D R" (Julio Dumont Romero), reverse engraved with an umbrella wreath and "SIND. NAUTILUS M.M. PREMIO CAMADERIA JULIO DUMONT R. 1945", 40 mm x 52.3 mm, original ribbon sewn to the integral loop, intact enamels, glue residue on the reverse of the medal and the ribbon from previous mounting to the award document, light contact, better than very fine. Accompanied by his Merchant Marine Fourth Class Engineer Title Document, named to "Julio Dumont Romero", four-colour Chilean coat-of-arms at the top, signed by the Director of Merchant Marine and Coast Guard, with Director's stamp in faded blue ink, two joined ten peso stamps at the bottom left with each inscribed with the overprints "1946-47" and "TERRITORIO MARITIMO" (Maritime Territory) and punch stamped "DTM", dated December 22, 1945 at Valparaiso, Chile, printed in black ink with individual inscriptions in black ink on an off-white card stock, 243 mm x 372 mm, light sun discolouration, highlight area at the bottom where the medal was previous glued to the document and along the edges from being framed, document better than very fine.
