Chile, Republic. A Star of Military Merit for Long Service in Gold, Armed Forces Division, Commander c.1950
(Estrella del Mérito Militar). Instituted 1935. 1947-1977 issued. In Gold, a very rare five-pointed multiple-rayed hollow star with ball finials, obverse centre featuring an enameled blue and red Chilean shield with a superposed central star in silver, with plain reverse, suspended by a detailed condor suspension also in Gold, measuring 50.72 mm (w) x 67.46 mm (h - inclusive of condor suspension and integral ring), weighting 28.8 g, accompanied by original red neck ribbon for the Armed Forces, near to mint.
Footnote: The Star of Military Merit for Long Service was instituted by the government of Chile circa 1935, to reward Armed, Naval, and Aeronautical forces for length of services with an exemplary conduct. Currently, It is awarded to Chilean military personnel. This star was awarded for 30 years of services
