In bronze gilt, a smooth five pointed multi-rayed star with ball finials, the obverse with a superposed enameled white medallion exhibiting a Chilean escutcheon in red and blue enamels, the plain reverse, measuring 49.53 mm (w) x 48.24 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring), presenting bent tips for wearing, suspended by original red ribbon with horizontal pinback hanger, extremely good.
Footnote: The Star for Years of Service was presumably instituted in 1916 as a military decoration for length of meritorious service. These medals have been amended many times, including in the years, 1916, 1930,1935,1947,1948,1960 and 1977.
