In bronze gilt with blue and white enamels, measuring 51 mm (w) x 81.2 mm (h) inclusive of its wreath and laterally-pierced ball suspension, intact enamels, on its original full-length sash incorporating a decorative moiré pattern, extremely fine.
Footnote: The National Order of José Matias Delgado was instituted on August 14, 1946 and is awarded to recognize extraordinary merit in humanitarian, literary, scientific, artistic, political and military fields, in six grades: Grand Cross with Gold Star, Grand Cross with Silver Star, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight. It is named after José Matías Delgado, who was a priest and doctor known as The Father of the Salvadoran Fatherland. He was a leader in the independence movement of El Salvador from Spain.
