Insignia in silver gilt with light blue, dark blue and white enamels, the centrepiece with a screen-printed image of the Guatemalan coat-of-arms on white enamels, mounted to a ten-pointed star base in silver gilt, with three faceted rays between each gilt ray of the star, maker marked "INDUSTRIAS DE LA RIVA GUATEMALA" on the reverse, measuring 80.5 mm (w) x 83.7 mm (h), vertical pinback, intact enamels, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Quetzal is Guatemala’s highest honour. It was instituted in 1936 and is bestowed by the Government of Guatemala. The award acknowledges officials of nations, organizations and other entities whose artistic, civic, humanitarian, literary or scientific works merit special recognition, in six grades: Collar (beginning in 1951), Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
